In May 24th and 25th, we would like to show you two films by Ukrainian director and screenwriter Sergei Loznitsa to help you understand how the war in Ukraine came about and what the people in Ukraine are fighting for.

24th of May – Maïdan – Documentary: 133 min., OV with subtitles (German)
„Maïdan” captures a civil uprising that took place in Kiev in the winter of 2013/14. The film follows the progression of the revolution: from peaceful rallies of half a million people in MaΪdan Square to the bloody street riots between the insurgents and riot police. „Maïdan” is the portrait of an awakening nation rediscovering its identity. Director Sergei Loznitsa rises above the contemporary political issues and turns his focus to the true nature of the uprising as a social, cultural, and philosophical phenomenon. A powerful blend of enthusiasm, heroic struggle, terror, civil courage, hope, solidarity, popular culture, passion, and self-sacrifice, „Maïdan” is an astonishing cinematic experience that combines traditional filmmaking and documentary urgency.

24 и 25 мая мы приглашаем Bас в Каммербюне на просмотр двух фильмов украинского режиссера Сергея Лозницы, которые помогают лучше понять, за что борется Украина в войне, развязанной против нее Россией.

24 мая – Майдан – Документальный фильм (133 мин.)
В фильме „Майдан” запечатлено восстание общества против пророссийского правительства Украины, произошедшее в Киеве зимой 2013/14 года. Фильм прослеживает развитие революции: от мирных митингов полумиллиона человек на площади Майдан Независимости до кровавых уличных боев между повстанцами и спецотрядами полиции. „Майдан” – это портрет пробуждающейся нации, заново открывающей свою идентичность. Мощная смесь энтузиазма, героической борьбы, террора, гражданского мужества, надежды, солидарности, народной культуры, страсти и самопожертвования, „Майдан” – это удивительная кинематографическая картина, сочетающая в себе классический кинематограф и документальную актуальность
